Used Nissan Rogue Models
To kick things off, we’ll take a look at some key model years you should have in mind if you’re interested in a used Nissan Rogue. The Rogue was first released in 2008, so you can find a lot of used models out there, but you don’t have to go that far back. We’ll keep things simpler by just looking at the two most recent generations for the Rogue, with an eye on certain model years that are of particular note. Some of what you find will depend on the trim and options, of course, so keep that in mind while you’re shopping.
2014 Nissan Rogue
In 2014, Nissan launched the second-generation Rogue, making this model year a terrific option to consider if you want to save money by going with an older model without reaching too far back. The redesigned Rogue introduced a number of new features, perhaps most notably an available third row of seating. That’s not something you’ll find in just any compact crossover model, so it’s a great option to look for if you want an SUV to help you meet the needs of a growing family.
For the 2014 model year, the Rogue was powered by a 2.5L four-cylinder engine with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). This helps make the Rogue a lot of fun to drive while also keeping your fuel costs down since CVTs are well-known for their high efficiency. In looking at 2014 models, you’ll find CD players, MP3 compatibility, and support for satellite radio. You won’t find Apple CarPlay or Android Auto on these older models. However, they do have basic Bluetooth connectivity, and you can enjoy luxuries like multi-zone air conditioning and heated front seats in some models.
2017 Nissan Rogue
If you’re looking for newer technologies and comfort features on the lot of your local Nissan dealer, you will want to focus on used models from 2017 and later. For 2017, Nissan updated the second-generation Rogue with major revisions inside and out that make it a fantastic option when shopping for a used model. Much of this update involved the exterior of the Rogue. While it kept its overall shape, the 2017 model received new headlamps, LED daytime running lights, and a stylish V-Motion grille.
The interior was also updated significantly, including the addition of a new flat-bottom steering wheel with an optional heated steering wheel. You can still find the third row of seating in some of these models, and overall performance remains much the same as the previous years of this generation. Advanced driver-assist features were greatly improved for the 2017 model year, including available options like Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Prevention, and much more. However, these weren’t standard for 2017, so remember that you won’t find them in all used models.
2020 Nissan Rogue
While 2017 was a big year for updates for the Rogue, 2020 was not––we mention it here because it was the final model year for the second generation. If you like the features we’ve been looking at so far, you’ll want to focus on models up to the 2020 Rogue. You can also save some money on 2020 models, not only because they’re older but because they’re part of the previous generation. However, by the end of the generation, many advanced safety features, such as a Blind Spot Warning, High Beam Assist, and Rear Door Alert, became standard on more Rogue trims.
2021 Nissan Rogue
If you want to enjoy some of the latest features and options while still going easier on your budget by choosing a pre-owned model, the 2021 Nissan Rogue is a great choice. For the 2021 model year, the Rogue was once again redesigned as Nissan launched its third generation and introduced a large number of new standard and available options. Standard features on the new generation are excellent, including heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated side mirrors––perfect for staying warm in cold winter weather.
Inside, you’ll find a 20 cm infotainment touchscreen and a four-speaker sound system is standard. Advanced safety features like Forward Collision Mitigation and a Lane Departure Warning are standard on 2021 models, along with Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Rear Parking Sensors with Rear Automatic Braking. Higher trim levels include a larger infotainment screen, digital cluster and head-up display for the driver, and a stunning 10-speaker sound system, so keep that in mind while looking at used models.
2022 Nissan Rogue
You wouldn’t expect many changes for the Rogue just one year after a new generation started, but in 2022 Nissan introduced a turbocharged three-cylinder engine that boosts power and efficiency compared to the standard powertrain. This is accompanied by a revised CVT that can take advantage of the more powerful engine and deliver a superior driving experience. A new SL trim level was also introduced for 2022, which comes with navigation, heated rear seats, a memory function for the driver’s seat, and a hands-free rear liftgate.
New Nissan Rogue Features
If you’re interested in a brand-new Nissan Rogue, you’re looking at the 2023 model year and everything it offers. There aren’t a ton of changes for the 2023 model compared to the previous year, but you’ll find a few new things. The gorgeous Midnight Edition has returned for the Rogue, which features gloss black wheels and premium leatherette seating. The Midnight Edition also has black accents like the grille, mirror caps, and badging to create a dark and stunning overall look. Amazon Alexa built-in is also new for the 2023 model year, and it comes standard on the Platinum and SL trims.
